“I was one of those people born to be a doctor. A career in medicine was never a question. I chose obstetrics and gynecology because it seemed the perfect specialty. It let me diagnose and treat medical issues, work in the ER, perform surgery and manage labor and delivery. I was in a wonderful practice in Chicago working with wonderful partners and staff. But as new advances were being made in the treatment of infertility, I wanted to specialize in this one area where I saw the opportunity to be at the leading edge of an expanding new subspecialty.
“One of the hardest things I have done personally was to leave my position as a senior partner and go back to university to do a fellowship. It was also the most fulfilling. As a subspecialist in an emerging field, I had the honor of setting up a new program at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in 1987. Then, together with my partners, we built a private fertility practice that has become the most successful in the Twin Cities area.
“I consider myself a compassionate clinician, providing care based on what is best for my patients. I work to help them understand how everything works, what is going on with their bodies and what all their options are before having to decide what kind of treatment plan they’ll be comfortable with. I take a very practical approach to care and recommend newer techniques and technology only after I’m sure they offer proven value.
“At the Center for Reproductive Medicine, I want all our patients to trust they are getting the most up-to-date information, reliable recommendations and the utmost respect in their effort to conceive and have a healthy pregnancy.”
