I had such a wonderful experience working with CRM—specifically, with the donor egg program. My partner and I were struggling with fertility, and after just one diagnostic visit to CRM, we were able to get the answers we needed. My physician, Dr. Kapfhamer, did a wonderful job of walking through all the options for us, saying he would support our decision-making, and that he wanted us to be aware of all possible outcomes associated with each option. He gave us all the information we needed to make the right decision for our family, and answered our questions directly and with compassion. We knew what we could expect and felt comfortable making our decision.
We decided to try to conceive using donor eggs. We met with staff DeNae from the Donor Egg Program—and, again, had a very positive experience. She walked us through each step of the process and what we could expect. The process for working with the program was relatively simple after we made the decision to start, and the timeline was not very long. Within 5 months, we were presented with a series of three possible donors. I felt a great deal of confidence in CRM’s donor screening process; the donor we selected had been screened for a very high number of health conditions that may be hereditary. My own family medical history is full of complex medical conditions—so this was very reassuring! After we selected the donor, it was pretty easy and fast to move to the recipient cycle process. The staff explained it all to us and helped us understand how to procure and administer the necessary medications. I will also note that we met with a psychologist as part of the process, which I found to be a very reasonable and useful step in helping us to get ready.
After the donor and I were both ready, we did one transfer—and it was a success! My partner and I are now parents (of twins!) and have fulfilled a life-long dream. We could not have done this without the support of the CRM staff, the ability to directly communicate and get our questions answered, and the excellent medical care we received.
