Meet Dr. Mejia
“We’re here to walk with you. Ask questions, lean on us, let us support both the medical and emotional sides of this journey. There are many ways to build a family and we’re here to help you find the path that’s right for you.”
For Dr. Rachel Mejia, reproductive medicine is the perfect intersection of science, compassion, and purpose. She was drawn to this field because it allows her to walk alongside people during some of their most vulnerable moments, offering medical guidance while providing emotional support and hope.
Long passionate about women’s health and the science behind the endocrine system, she finds the physiology of reproduction endlessly fascinating and loves that her work allows her to blend clinical precision with deeply human care.
“I wanted a specialty where science and compassion could coexist. Reproductive medicine offers both.”
What she values most in patient care is communication, specifically, true two-way communication where patients feel heard, understood, and supported. She believes the foundation of effective treatment is a trusting relationship built on listening. Every patient who walks into her office brings their own unique story – past disappointments, losses, hopes, fears, and goals. Her first priority is understanding those things fully so she can tailor a plan that reflects the medical evidence and the patient’s values.
Infertility treatment is never one-size-fits-all, and she carefully explains every option in clear, grounded terms so patients can make informed choices.
“Two people may want the same outcome, but their values, comfort levels, and life circumstances may be completely different,” she says. “My job is to empower them with information and then support the choice that aligns with who they are.”
Dr. Mejia was drawn to the Center for Reproductive Medicine due to its patient-centered philosophy and strong ethical foundation. As a physician-owned practice, CRM empowers doctors to make decisions based solely on what is best for their patients. She was equally inspired by Minnesota’s commitment to reproductive rights and access to care, which she believes is essential to supporting all family structures as well as individuals seeking fertility services.
She appreciates the continuity physicians maintain with their patients at CRM from the first visit through treatment, results, and beyond. CRM’s culture of collaboration – where nurses, sonographers, embryologists, and lab teams all play a critical role in each patient’s journey – is another critical ingredient. She frequently consults directly with sonographers on ultrasound findings, collaborates closely with the nursing team, and relies on the expertise of laboratory colleagues, believing that the best outcomes come from a unified, communicative team.
Some of Dr. Mejia’s most meaningful moments come when former patients share birth announcements or family photos, expressing how CRM helped change their lives. Knowing she played a part in bringing joy and healing to a family is what fuels her work day after day.
Hobbies
I enjoy being outdoors in all seasons – especially spring, summer, and fall. I love hiking and walking with our family dog, trying new restaurants, and exploring local coffee shops when traveling. Time with family and friends is deeply important to me, as is cheering on my children in their activities. I also enjoy audiobooks, Big Ten sports, and following women’s basketball.
