Helping spread Awareness During National Infertility Awareness Month

As we spring forward to the new season, we also get closer to National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW). During NIAW, we wear orange to show our support and spread awareness about infertility. This year, we’ve decided to show off our orange colors a little differently to help bring greater support to the infertility community.

All of us at the Center for Reproductive Medicine are proud to announce that we’ll be lighting up several landmarks in the state’s biggest city in honor of NIAW. We’re partnering with businesses located in several iconic buildings across Minneapolis to illuminate the cityscape in vibrant orange. Bright, citrusy lights will gleam throughout Minneapolis as our way of promoting awareness about infertility.

National Infertility Awareness Week®

National Infertility Awareness Week® (NIAW) is an annual observance that takes place from April 21st to April 27th. Established by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, NIAW aims to raise awareness about infertility, a condition that affects millions of individuals and couples worldwide.

The week serves as an opportunity to break down the stigmas associated with infertility, educate the public about reproductive health, and advocate for access to comprehensive fertility treatments and support.

For our fertility clinic, National Infertility Awareness Week holds a special significance. It aligns with our mission to provide compassionate care and advanced treatments to those facing infertility challenges.

During NIAW, we engage with our community, share educational resources, and highlight our patients’ stories of resilience and hope. It’s a time for us to reaffirm our commitment to helping individuals and couples achieve their dreams of parenthood and remind them that they are not alone in their journey by lighting it up orange!

Why Orange?

RESOLVE created the #WearOrange campaign. The National Infertility Association: Since 1989, orange has been the color used to raise awareness and spark conversations about infertility.

Beyond its striking visual a-peel (don’t worry—this is the only orange pun you’ll find here), orange conveys a feeling of wellness, plus warmth, passion, and compassion, all of which make up the spirit of those who persevere through fertility struggles.

Our goal is to zest this radiant hue throughout Minneapolis, encouraging more conversations and sharing awareness to support those affected by infertility during NIAW. Every illuminated structure will carry a message of solidarity and understanding.

We have proudly organized this illuminating event at the following locations:

35W Bridge: The iconic interstate bridge that connects Minneapolis and St. Paul will shine in orange, symbolizing hope and awareness for those affected by infertility.

Lowry Bridge: Located at 1-199 N Lowry Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55412, this architectural marvel will join the campaign to light up the night sky with a warm orange glow.

Capella Tower: Standing tall at 225 South Sixth Street, Minneapolis, MN 55402, this skyscraper will also participate in the initiative, spreading the message of support and awareness to the community.

Your Story Matters

Supporting NIAW and lighting up the city orange is about more than just raising awareness about infertility. It’s also about empowering members of the infertility community, letting them know that they are not alone. #WearOrange is also about flipping the script and changing the conversation around infertility.

1 in 6 people are affected by infertility globally. However, infertility continues to be a taboo subject that is not often talked about. This can make those who are suffering feel more alone and isolated. We plan to help change that. Lighting up the city of Minneapolis allows us to destigmatize infertility and infertility treatments, like IVF, and encourage people to share their inspiring stories.

Our Support Is with the Infertility Community

By participating in NIAW, we aim to foster a supportive environment where conversations about fertility are open, informed, and empowering.

As we bask in the warm glow of orange lights adorning the Minneapolis skyline on April 21, our focus will be on all members of the infertility community, no matter where they are in their family-building journeys. We hope every individual has the support and resources they need to fulfill their dreams of parenthood, and that’s why we light it up for NIAW.
