About Rachel
What Made You Interested in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI)?
From the moment I was introduced to the field of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, I became dedicated to both the science and the human side of care. The physiology of infertility and endocrine disorders drew me in, but it was patients’ stories, journeys, and unique histories that gave the work its deeper meaning. I knew this was a field where I could combine advanced medical knowledge with compassionate care to help patients achieve their family-building goals.
I feel truly fortunate to do this work every day, and I am grateful to the patients who place their trust in me to guide them through such an important chapter of their lives.
What Is Your Approach to Medicine?
I believe the best care begins with open, honest, and direct communication. Every patient brings a unique history and set of goals, which means every treatment plan must be personalized. My approach is to combine evidence-based medicine with a clear understanding of each patient’s values, ensuring that care is both scientifically sound and aligned with what matters most to them.
I am deeply committed to my patient’s unique journeys, walking alongside them with empathy and compassion and guiding them with the most up to date treatment options. As a fertility specialist, I find joy in seeking answers to the unknown, fueled by my passion for research and dedication to improving outcomes for patients and the care we provide.
Professional Background
I joined the Center for Reproductive Medicine in 2025 after seven years of practice as a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility physician at the University of Iowa. There, I served as IVF Medical Director, Ultrasound Director, and led the fertility preservation program. My academic work included conducting clinical trials, with a particular focus on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and contributing to multiple areas of reproductive medicine research.
Outside the Office
Outside of medicine, I enjoy being outdoors in all seasons – especially spring, summer, and fall. I love hiking and walking with our family dog, trying new restaurants, and exploring local coffee shops when traveling. Time with family and friends is deeply important to me, as is cheering on my children in their activities. I also enjoy audiobooks, Big Ten sports, and following women’s basketball.
